Exhibition of coins, medals and paper money

Over 18 editions, Vicenza Numismatica has become the most important Italian appointment for coins, medals and paper money thanks to its capacity for combining commercial and cultural aspects, the former featuring more than 70 exhibitors from all over Italy. This year Vicenza Numismatica, the only event where collecting and research, shows and trade, study seminars and awards all co-exist quite happily, will merge all this at Epoca; the art, history, culture and collecting event.
The cultural initiatives of Vicenza Numismatica will this year come together in a single large show entitled "Andrea Palladio 1508-2009. Coins, medals, art, documents" celebrating the 500th anniversary of the birth of Andrea Palladio, with the 16th Century as the reference historical period. Furthermore, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Constitution of Italy, an important convention and a numismatic-documentary exhibition curated by Guido Crapanzano will be organised, with the central theme being Luigi Einaudi and issues of the period from the Italian kingdom to the republic. The Carabinieri Force will also be participating in these celebrations with a show of works by the sculptor Luciano Zanelli entitled "Bronze and silver: medals with collar badges". The great protagonists of the 2009 appointment will once again be the International Awards for promotion of the technical and artistic quality of coins from all over the world.
The cultural aspect of the show will also be rounded out by a study seminar on Italian coinage in the Palladian Century, organised by the Italian Academy of Numismatic Studies.
As usual, this edition of Vicenza Numismatica will offer children the chance to get a feel for collecting, coins and medals in a fun original way thanks to the project called "Vicenza Fair Educational", organised by the Vicenza Fair, the City Authorities and the local Craftsmen's Association.
